A few days late, but better late than never! Paris was just as magical as you probably picture it. To help you picture it, picture post!
Car breaks down. Off to a bad start.
We spend the day in Toucy instead of Paris. When looking for lunch, a local tells us, “The food here is bad. The least bad is up the street on the left.” Damn. J is excited by walls made of straw and mud.
A tow truck and a train later, and we’ve finally arrived! J’s uncles Fabrice and Frederic are wonderful hosts and take us out for a delicious crepe dinner and an Eiffel tower surprise and we are officially in Paris!
Notre Dame touristing! Fun fact: the floor inside is tiled in alternating black and white stones – except the white are softer and have eroded more, so that every other tile waves downward a bit.
Cluny Square church garden where we drank beer.
The Louvre is exhausting. We relax in a park afterwards.
Dancing on the Seine!
The view of Montmarte from the top of le Pompidou, the modern art museum.
Farewell Paris! “Wait!” You say, “Isn’t that a beach? Why are you at a beach in Paris?” That’s right, Parisians need their beaches so badly that every summer they truck in sand to place by the Seine, complete with parasols, beach chairs, and baby foot. Paris Plages, everyone!
Au revoir Paris! Now adventuring in Berlin with Julie and Oli, will post about it next!
